As per 2020 census data, the population of Greater Pittsburgh region reached 2.37 million people. At its core lies Pittsburgh itself with 302,971 residents making it the second-largest city in Pennsylvania after Philadelphia when measured in terms of population. Notably, more than half of Greater Pittsburgh region inhabitants call Allegheny County their home with 1.24 million in its ranks making it second only to Philadelphia County when measured by total inhabitants in terms of total county populations in Pennsylvania.
